As we witnessed the changing of material “public” space, we tend to forget a hard cultural form[1], the activity that defines the place. Stories in this project show that beyond the transforming physical space, locality attached to the people and stands as hard cultural forms, reproduces new surface (soft) culture and physical space. Riung Mungpulung, as performativity – act as a locality that embedded in the way people use the public space; defines the space as place, and create possibilities of reproduction of urban ‘public space’
Thus, practically it also shows that the validity of usage of the absorbed word ‘ruang publik’ from ‘public space’ , especially in the architecture study – became a big question that should be rethink.

[1] ‘Hard cultural forms’ are those that come with a set of links between value, meaning, and embodied practice that are difficult to break and hard to transform. Soft cultural forms, by contrast, are those that permit relatively easy separation of embodied performance from meaning and value, and relatively successful transformation at each level.~Arjun Appadurai~
